During the Summer of 2007 Aggie and I went on a short trip to South America. Since I had a lot more free time then Aggie, and TACA airlines allows a stopover in their San Salvador hub, I flew to El Salvador first. I then made my way overland by bus to Nicaragua, where I spent two weeks. Jon, a friend of mine, flew to Nicaragua and joined me for a week. We flew out to the Corn Island for a few days together. Afterwards I made my way back to San Salvador where I met Aggie on the flight to Lima. We only had two weeks so we focused on the most famous sites, flying into Cusco and taking the train to Machu Picchu. Aguas Caliente, the little town near Machu Picchu, has grown from a little village that I remember when I was first there in the mid 1990's into a horrible backpacker ghetto.

From Cusco we traveled overland into Bolivia, stopping on the way at the Isla de la Luna on lake Titicaca. We then went to La Paz, Salar de Uyuni and Potosi before going back to La Paz and flying back home through Costa Rica.

Here is a rough outline, red is overland travel, blue are flights
